The team was hosted by the yard’s Operations Director, and Emil Akumah (Quality Manager), who provided a comprehensive overview of ongoing activities and safety practices across the facility.

During the visit, the delegation toured the yard from the shiplift and repair areas to the newbuilding aluminium welding sheds. Discussions focused on operational systems, safety controls, and the coordination of multiple vessels within a compact operational environment.

LR highlighted several strengths observed during the visit, including:

  • Continued investment in infrastructure and systems

  • The broad scope of repair and newbuilding activities

  • Effective logistical management across concurrent projects

  • Clear visibility of Risk Assessments in highrisk work areas

  • Structured toolbox talk templates and attendance tracking

The Yard HSE Team was commended for its proactive approach, openness to feedback, and strong safety culture. The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of Lloyd’s Register’s commitment to ongoing collaboration and support.
